BARN INTERVENTION

Used as an entertainment parlour the barn is set at the tip of a fabulous garden in the compound of a 1920's mansion. It sits on a high cliff overlooking the arrival of the Douro River at the sea. Joana Rosa was commissioned to design a washroom, add a mezzanine and connect the barn to the adjoining guest cottage while surveying the necessary maintenance works to the barn. The choice of materials fits the robust and tactile settings. The concrete spiral that houses the lavatory is the fruit of a complex wooden cast adorned with relics from the lush garden that brings you to this place.
